From Photography to Property

Harrison's academic journey began with a degree in Photography and Media Arts. However, his curiosity about the built environment led him to explore the field of land surveying and domestic energy assessment. This newfound interest ignited a passion for residential surveying and valuation, driving him to seek further knowledge and expertise.

The SAVA Challenge

In 2017, Harrison embarked on a rigorous academic pursuit by enrolling in a Level 6 National Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation at SAVA. This demanding course provided him with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to excel in the industry. Despite facing numerous challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulty in securing a mentor, Harrison persevered. He meticulously balanced his studies with his demanding role at Harpr Surveyors, adhering to a strict timetable to ensure timely completion of coursework.

A Focus on Building Pathology and Energy Efficiency

During his studies, Harrison developed a particular interest in building pathology, a field that involves the diagnosis and treatment of building defects. He also found the energy efficiency module to be particularly insightful, as it allowed him to provide valuable advice to clients on improving the energy performance of their properties.
