At Harpr Surveyors, we understand how crucial accurate measurements are when it comes to property surveys, renovations, and space planning. That’s why we’ve developed a free, user-friendly Ceiling Height Calculator to help you get quick and reliable room data — including total area, volume, and ceiling height — with downloadable reports included, great for audit purposes.
Why Ceiling Height Matters
Ceiling height influences everything from room aesthetics and perceived space to building regulations and resale value. Whether you're assessing a loft conversion, drawing up floor plans, completing an EPC or preparing for a planning application, knowing your ceiling height is fundamental.

Who Is This Tool For?
This tool has been designed with a range of users in mind:
- Architects - estimate interior volumes for concept designs
- Domestic Energy Assessors - no need to break the property up into unnecessary extensions
- Surveyors - quickly record ceiling heights on site
- Homeowners - measure spaces for renovations or extensions
- Estate agents - provide detailed property specifications
Why We Built It
I used to struggle to calculate average ceiling heights in the early days of competing EPC assessments, and I'm sure there are others out there who still do today. We believe in giving our clients more control and clarity during the survey and design process. Our goal was to create a tool that’s accurate, accessible, and completely free — no registration required. We use it ourselves during preliminary inspections, and now you can too.
Try the Ceiling Height Calculator
It’s fast, free, and mobile-friendly. Here's how to get started:

Step 1 - Identify the space or room
Understand the space you're trying to survey, think about its shape and sketch it if required.

Step 2 - Measure for Zone 1
You'll need the length, width and ceiling height. If the space has a sloped ceiling, take a measurement for the highest and lowest point.

Step 3 - Repeat for Zone 2
Your space may have different lengths and widths so ensure they are also correct as a greater volume of space will affect the weighted average ceiling height.

Step 4 - Repeat again for Zone 3
Repeat as necessary for the remaining parts of your spaces, extensions or rooms. Once complete, the Summary will outline the area, volume and average ceiling height.

Step 5 - Output the report
Click 'Download PDF Report' and feel free to use it for audit purposes. This saves all your manual calculations and presents it in a way that the accreditation bodies can easily understand.
